Contents

Introduction

The Florence G. Strauss-Leonard A. Wisneski Indigenous and Integrative Medicine Collection consists of books, journals and other materials, related to complementary health practices and indigenous therapies from around the world. Often very distinct from and sometimes at odds with conventional Western approaches to medicine, the resources in this special collection provide an opportunity to learn about different healing traditions, philosophies and attitudes toward health and disease.  The Florence G. Strauss-Leonard A. Wisneski Collection is supported by a generous endowment from Henry L. and Joan T.  Strauss and was originally created in memory of  Florence G. Strauss.

The Strauss Committee and the Strauss Lectures

An integral part of the special collection is the Strauss Committee composed of  health practitioners, researchers, educators, and librarians from the UCD-AMC campus, the Auraria campus, and the community.  Members advise the library on collection development and on the Strauss Lectures.

If you are interested in joining the committee or you know someone who would be appropriate, please use this nomination form to submit information.

The Strauss Lectures is a series of presentations   on indigenous and integrative medicine held in the library and open to the public.  The Spring 2013 schedule is in planning.
